LKO’s PA Jennifer Georgia offers her thoughts on the recent historic vote to change the Physician Assistant title to Physician Associate:
“To the patient, I am Jenni Georgia, PA-C healthcare provider, surgical assist, “the one that gives the best injections!”. I work with the other providers at Lederman & Kwartowitz Center for Orthopedics to diagnose patients, perform procedures, order diagnostic testing and develop patient-focused treatment plans to get them better faster.
Over the years, several efforts to change the title were put forth as many PAs felt that the word “assistant” may misrepresent the profession. Changing our title from assistant to associate will better represent the work PAs have been doing for over 50 years. PAs are trusted health care providers who work within their training, experience, and education.
The title change does not change my commitment to team-based care and collaboration with physicians and other members of the healthcare team, only enhances the valuable contributions that PAs make in delivering excellent patient outcomes.”
